Arizona Border Issues "Illegal Aliens", Sound Like Something From Star Trek

Howdy everybody, it's me again, a blast from the past, and I need to let my frustrations fly on paper, because it is difficult to refrain from saying anything about this issue, To me this issue is so obvious. What part of illegal doesn't the American government understand? What part of illegal don't we the people understand? Illegal is indeed...illegal. Its not profiling, it's not that all of a sudden, we hate Mexicans, it is none of that! Why do we go so far overboard when it comes to human rights and this so called "profiling"? Why is it that we feel that we have to roll over and play dead, when it comes to these types of issues? Why are we the only country in the world that is worried about profiling? I live in Arizona, and I for one am sick and tired of supporting these illegal immigrants. I am not targeting just the Hispanics, although they are our nearest neighbor down here, instead I am targeting all illegal immigrants.

Mexicans are not the only race that has illegal aliens coming across our boarders, but in Arizona, these people feel targeted, because all or even most of the illegals ARE INDEED FROM MEXICO! I do not profile, never have and never will, but enough is enough. I am sick and tired of having to press 1, when I want to hear something in English. I am sick and tired of walking into a store, and seeing someone in front of me with eight kids around them, using food stamps that I am paying for (the mother can't even speak english to the clerk). I am sick and tired of my Social Security monies being used for these illegals that don't have to pay taxes, I am sick and tired that my medical cost have escalated to a point that no one can afford to use them for the exception of the "government paid illegals". I am sick and tired that someone from the border can come across the border and kill a rancher, that has been here all of his life, that was respected by all that knew him. This has got to stop! Our borders should be shut down, not just from Mexico, but all borders. In China, if you are a illegal alien, you are thrown in prison, and never heard from again. In the far east, you are imprisoned for a very long time, for years. All countries, for the exception of this one, has very strict laws against illegal aliens, but in America, of course we "Profile" that is what we do, that is a bunch of B.S. in my book.

I love my country, and I have fought for ours rights like the next guy, but enough is enough. I think I will start a column in a local newspaper that is is called "Halsey's Opinion, Take It For What It's Worth". I am not affraid if I am not politically correct, I really don't care what people think, it is what it is folks. We have a bill that is waiting for our Governor Jan Brewer to sign into law, she states that "The federal government has failed in its obligation and moral responsibility to secure our borders, A government's principle responsibility to its citizens is to provide safety and security. States have never been expected, even in prosperous economic times, to sustain the national defense of our borders. With the resources we have today, I am doing everything within my power to ensure and promote safety for our citizens along our southern border." (Special thanks to KGUN 9 NEWS).

Lots of my friends, even family, (in-laws) are Hispanic, and I love them to death, but guess what, they care enough about this country to learn the language, respect our flag, (they may still fly their Mexican flag, but they have the American flag right there on top of the pole) and I as an American appreciate that. I believe in honeing in on ones culture, keeping it alive with family traditions, and cultural events. But these folks are LEGAL people....that is the difference. There should be no Amnisty for illegal aliens, they knew they were illegal when they got here, and these folks should be fined, and escorted back down to Mexico where they belong. If they come over again, they should be arrested, thrown in prision for a year where they can work in a sweat shop, with hard labor, and their fee for the work that they do will be absorbed in their food and lodging they consume, this is where they will learn that nothing is for free. At the end of the year (hard labor) then they should be driven back to their borders, handed over to the Mexican border agents, and taken into custody there, Where local authorities will disposition them the way they see fit. This is not just for the illegals from Mexico, but for all illegals that cross our American borders.

Now alot of you are going to say, wow, that is a little rough for him to suggest that, but is is also a little "rough" for me to absorb their cost of being here illegally, food, healthcare, money from MY social security, education, (bi-lingual) etc. I think you get the point, it is cheaper to take them back to Mexico, and let their government deal with them. I believe our president should be working on agreements with these officals from other countries that have this cronic problem of illegals passing over the borders, and come up with a resolution that will make that governments be responsible for their own people. Once that government has to start paying out for the cost of transporting their people back across their borders, and money comes out of their local funding to pay for this, then I will assure you that laws in Mexico, and everywhere else will get even more strict as to keeping their people on the right side of their border.

It is not my intent to offend anyone, but again, enough is enough! This is a great country, that is why we all love her so much. We have earned our right to be here, we have fought for our flag, we have paid our taxes, we have paid into our Social Security all of our lives, and it is time we push back on these issues that impact all of us as a whole. Don't be passive about them, in the end these issues will ruin you if you just roll over for them. My name is Gary W. Halsey Sr, and I approve this message!!

Geeze Gary, you came back with a bang HA! I have missed you, the other day I was thinking about you, wondering how your writing career was coming along. It's so good to hear from you. I agree with you...and I am Mexican. Though you wouldn't know it. Yo no speakie el spanyol. Many in my family (grandparents- and 2nd aunts etc worked hard to become legal and they are) I have no problem with them wanting a better chance and life, but do what it takes to become a legal citizen and learn the lingo.

Big hugs - and many blessings to you! T

Hiya Teresa, how in the world are you and your wonder family doing? I am so glad to hear from you. I am working on (are you ready for this.....two books) and I am hoping to get completed on one of them by the end of this summer. It is called "From Riches to Rags, Rags to Riches", and it is based and researched on modern day economics. I am really going to town on that one.....The other one is called "Navy Daze", based on some real life experiences of a combat veteran, a mix of funny and serious tales of Naval folklore...it is fun also.....how is the ministries going? I love to read your writings as well as your good sound religious advice. Yes I am on a bandwagon, and glad you agree with what I wrote, (I would still adore you if you didn't agree) but I seriously do not have a problem with Legal Immigrants, of ANY race, I just have a problem with those who are here illegally, that have no investment in this country, I think that is all I am trying to say...I just don't want to support anyone, who is here for a free ride, that won't even have the respect of our country to at least learn the language. I know its hard to learn, but if I wanted to live in Spain, Mexico, France, anywhere, I would honor the ole phrase, "When in Rome, Do as the Romans do"! Thanks for your wonderful input...and I will come to your site to see what you have been up too. Your friend in pen, and in citizenship.....Gary.

Hey Gary, it is good to see you back. My only 2-cents here is that my ancestors lived in the good ol' U.S. of A. for 150 years before they learned English (they spoke neider Deitsch, similar to Dutch.) We are The Great Melting Pot, after all. My concern is that immigration reform is better thought through than, "I got mine, you go get your own." Thanks for your thoughts.

Howdy Bruce, thanks for your response. I do agree with the melting pot concept, as it is so true, and diversity is a great thing, as long as it is within the "legal" guideliines of the law. Way to long have we turned our backs and looked the other way when it comes to illegal immigrants, our rights to have prayer in our schools, and how out of hand our national spending has become. I think that with the way the economy is, and the hardships we are all trying to bare, people are becoming a little more aware of what they are paying for, and where our taxpayers money is being spent. Illegal immigrants are costing us billions a year. The borders have become way to lax in border security, and that is why we need to regain control of them. I just want Americans to have what I, and so very many before me have fought for, that is our freedom, and our right to citizenship. Citizens are invested, so should immigrants be. Thanks for your welcoming me back, I really appreciate it, and look forward to contributing to SearchWarp again. I look forward to it. Thanks again for your kind comments.

Hi Gary,

Good to see you here again & welcome back. I appreciate your thoughts on this, but I do believe some of your anger may be misdirected and unfounded. I do understand the whole "what part of illegal do we not understand" however, there are ways to handle this that are much less punitive to those who are of Mexican descent who have been living in the United States long before any of us were here and are very legal citizens.

Also, illegal immigrants are not a zero sum cost. You state that they cost us billions (which is a MUCH higher figure than I've ever seen) but you make no mention of how much they add to the economy. The vast majority of them are doing jobs that NONE of us want to do. There are studies that show that they put as much in to the economy as they take out. It benefits the United States to be educating these illegal children. Either they stay here, become productive and become naturalized citizens OR they go back to Mexico and make much better neighbors. They pay rent, they buy food, clothes, furniture, etc. They also help keep Mexico more stable by sending money back and feeding families there that have no other source. That's good for the United States.

You say that they are taking your Social Security but how exactly do they do that? If they have a Social Security number, then they have been paying into the system, so you could argue that they are getting back what they put in, but it's pretty difficult for them to stay here for a long time and then turn around and collect social security without having a number, even if it's bogus. What is more likely to happen is that they somehow acquire a number that's not theirs, then they pay into the system so they can get a job but they never get to collect it... that kinda' benefits us since Social Security needs all the money it can get.

Personally, I don't expect Arizona's law to last long. Only as long as it take law enforcement to falsely accuse the first legal immigrant or worse yet to falsely imprison someone solely on their skin color and then the lawsuits will begin. There has to be a better way.

There are very legitimate concerns about the crime rate on the border and the burden on our medical system concern but this law is not the way to go about correcting those issues.

I've been over the border on numerous occasions. Every time, as I cross back over the Rio Grande into the United States, I am struck by how much difference that little strip of water makes on so many levels. I always think to myself - "they wouldn't be able to keep me out, either."

Howdy Jean, I am glad to hear your response, and can almost agree in some areas but obviously not all. Hummm, first of all, let me say that "I am not angry" in a literal since about anything, I am merely frustrated that I, you, we, us, are flipping the bill for illegal immigrants. And the bill IS in the "Billions" Nationwide. Be my guest to click on link below to watch this CBS news report courtesy of CBS News. Now keep in mind, that this was back in 2007 when immigration was at a even lower level, there are also reports of present day "census" reports that are much higher. Here is the link.(I could not send you the link, don't have a clue as to why, but I sent it to you via email)
I am hoping that it will work for you. As you will see the cost that is associated in several different areas  like education, healthcare, food, bi-lingual classes, Dept. of Corrections, deportation cost, the list goes on and on. are in the millions and billions of dollars. Its killing us.

According to the census figures, and I will make mention to this, that they (illegals) are totally consuming what they supposedly contribute according to a study done  (I have studied this for quite some time, even years). You mentioned that, and I quote "There are ways to handle this that are much less punitive", I would love to hear your suggestions on this, I'm sure Govonor Brewer would like to hear it also. I agree that perhaps this is not the answer, but I am CONVINCED that there needs to be absolute control of our borders.

I did see a report that says that illegals ARE collecting SS benefits and checks for children/born in this country which also includes healthcare that is costing us a arm and a leg to pay. This is also impacting the cost to the taxpayers. How do they do this you ask? They somehow acquire a number that's not theirs, these are fraudulent numbers. Just using these fraudulent numbers in itself is illegal, and needs to be stopped. They get these benefits with these numbers, as long as they have a card. Immigration according to CBS, The Census Bureau, and the Bush Administration says that Immigration is a "Growing Concern". You may be interested in reading The Executive Summary from the Center Of Immigration Studies, they break it down pretty good, here is a link for that (I could not send you the link, don't have a clue as to why, but I sent it to you via email)

You may be right about the Arizona law not lasting long, perhaps that is true, but I will say that I have allot of respect for Governor Brewer for having the guts to try to do SOMETHING about it, instead of the rhetoric and lip service that Obama is giving us. All of sudden, our borders are suddenly important, after some "squeaky wheel, does something outrageous about the situation of Border control, and of course I am speaking of Govonor Brewer. Interesting how things unfold. Well, its been fun kiddo, and always good to hear from you, I hope this will enlighten you in the sense of at least the associated cost impact it has on the taxpayer....Geesh, I almost wrote another whole story here....lol......let me know if you would like the census reports, I can look them up for you, I am a member of the site.

Hi Gary, there is much we agree on, and I do have thoughts on how to help this situation but I think I worry about the mentality "we must do whatever it takes" to control our borders. I guess I reject the notion that the self-proclaimed "greatest country on earth" can't come up with ways to have border security AND allow immigrant workers to come safely into the country as needed without making our own citizens worry about their skin color. The communist nations "do whatever it takes" and indeed, their borders are locked up tight but I don't want to live there. The crime on the border is frightening - we do need to do something about it. But I believe our country can come up with solutions that do not violate basic human rights. We are better than that.We also may need to reexamine our stance that every child born on our soil is automatically a citizen. Many of the problems with our current system do start there. Under Arizona's current law, I believe a child born in the US who is a citizen and 18 years old, could be prosecuted for not reporting parents who are not. That seems cruel. So I believe we need reform in the system from the ground up. Arizona's law seems to be just cutting the apples off the apple tree. Anyway, I appreciate your reply and your thoughts. This issue should not just now be coming to the table. We should have begun working on this in the 90's...

Thanks Jean, I agree with you about the apples, and this should have been addressed years ago. I really don't think this is a racist issue though, there are people down here that are getting hurt, and even killed. The drug Cartels below the borders, (which are only 40 miles away from where I live are a bunch of murdering thugs that have no value for life. They have found several dead female bodies on our side of the border that have been brutally raped and left dead in the desert by the illegals. This has got to stop...I am thinking about moving, and I am a combat veteran, and would not hesitate to defend my home if necessary until I do move, it is that bad. Thanks for your gracious comments, and I hope that little bit of info helped that I sent, and yes, we do agree on allot of things. This one is a little hot for me at this time. Your friend as always .... Gary....

How about returning what its rightly owned to Mexico! What do you think of that? A name is a name, but the soil you are living in it still Mexican Soil, so who is the needs to leave the land ? Mexicans or you? Let's trace the soil's DNA back to it's rightful Owners.

Mexicans have been repeatedly been abused and ransacked by the U.S.A- Including their most sacred food source, which is now being genetically processed and being fed back to them as a way of abolition causing them all kinds of illness.

Don't you guys have something more important to think about, than isssues that do not affect your life in One bit. seriously there are many people in need in this world, get up and start doing something to contribute to society instead of against society or human kind.

I think you have a pretty firm grasp of what illegal immigration is. Thats about it! lol oh, I just received a great email from my a friend, who is by the way, Italian, and I quote,

"The major news organizations, many politicians, and many Hispanics, simply don't get it.  The fuss is not about immigration.   I don't know anybody in this country who is against immigration.  The fuss is all about ILLEGAL immigration.  No administration, for the last 30 years, Republican or Democratic,  has done anything about illegal immigrants.  The Federal paralysis has gotten so bad that states like Arizona have had to resort to taking its own course of action.   Shame on Washington!  ...Not shame on Arizona."

Mexicans here and in Mexico are rather upset by the recent enactment of stricter anti-illegal alien laws by Arizona's governor.

In light of the following, that position demonstrates the typical double standard used by race-hustlers and assorted something-for-nothings.  Read on, and read it to the end.

Dear Gary:

Like your style! You left out one thing! The law about being born on American soil and becoming a citizen was originated by northern legislators who wanted to make sure that the new black voters would be ensured that they could vote. This was in answer to southern laws that declared them non-persons and non citizens.

This was of course an error which should be changed because that is one of the driving forces of illegals breaking the law. The rather harsh alternative to this is to deport the illegal parents and keep the child as a ward of the state. Not a good place to be in - but those are the choices that confront us with these greedy, power hungry, politicians. This is Obama at his political best! Get the right people in and these problems - go away!

Bigot? Snore.... It is refreshing from time to time to see how some people think they have all the answers. You don't know me, and I don't know you, but you are certainly quick to judge. I am not a bigot, never have been, never will be. If that is the way you interpet the issue of illegals, then you are certainly entitled to your right to express your opinion. If I were a bigot, I would have deleted your remark, but you know, I just couldn't do it because its folks like you that have made this great country what it is today. You choose to take everything out  of context, and think what is convienent for  you. Thats okay. It's a free country right. My kids are very well informed about how important tradition and integrity is not to mention deversity and to have respect for others, no matter what race, creed or color. They love their fellow man no matter what the color of their skin. And you know, so do I. But you certainly did turn this around to suit your platform didn't you? Again that is okay. It appears that folks like you, who have no concept about what us border folks go through from day to day, it is easy for you to sit back and judge, when your not in danger of being shot at. Your words are big, but that is about it. Your name calling does nothing to me for the exception of letting me see how incredibably ignorant some folks can be. You think what you will bucko, my family and I know who, and how we are, and I could really care less what you think, because like most folks that just go off making statements without thinking about what they write before writing it, that is just ignorant. But as you can see, I am leaving your comment here, because for everyone that knows me, and that has known me throughout the years, KNOWS that I am not a bigot. I am married to a woman who has brown skin, is she georgeous, yes indeed, is she wonderful, yes indeed, and she is the love of my life. And guess what, She wouldn't be caught dead with a bigot. So, there it is. I suggest you go back and study your American law about Illegal Immigrants, it has nothing to do with being a bigot, it has everything to do with being ILLEGAL! So, I guess you are saying that whoever wrote the immigration laws are also bigots?  Right? Do you condon being illegal? Is that why you are name calling? Well, at least you can tell your friends that you had the guts to tell a guy he is a bigot, and he didn't do anything to get back at you because you have that right to express yourself, well buddy, so do I, yes indeed, so do I. So, in that context, you are forgiven :)

Hey Brother! I'm sorry it took me so long to read your article. A LOT has changed since you disappeared.

Anyway, the issue here is the "illegal" part, right? There would be no reason for anyone to cross the border illegally if not for the draw of jobs, illegal jobs, offered by citizens who are breaking the law. Eliminate that factor and the problem goes away.

Why? Who do you think is helping illegals get those benefits you mentioned? People who hire them and likely pay no taxes themselves. After all, a criminal is a criminal.

Good to "see" you again!

Howdy Ken, thanks for the input and drop by, I can see allot has changed since I left, wow. How have you been, I noticed that you were travelling! You are absolutely right about the jobs, racism is not the issue here, I could care less what color of ones skin is, it is not about that, and for some reason, some folks just can't get pass that. But right you are...Illegal is indeed illegal. Thanks for the welcome back. I haven't really disappeared, I have been working on two books of mine that hopefully will get published. I am excited about them. I am almost finished with the one, and other one will probably not be finished until year end ( I never realized how long it would take to research, and write a book)!! I agree wholeheartedly with what you have said. I think we are getting too afraid to speak our minds, everyone seems afraid of insulting someone and now what do we have, a mess. I feel that the companies and individuals who hire illegal immigrants, tax free, should be punished with tax audits, etc. I think if the illegals realize there aren't free and easy jobs in the USA, they will not be as motivated to come over. And I wouldn't expect much help from Mexico... Their latest ideas was that the U.S. should provide drinking fountains for the illegals in the desert and that the Mexican authorities should hand out survival kits for those attempting a crossing, they also had the cheek to add, "So that they can travel and return in safety" How many return??? And they poor Border guy who shot the 15 year old kid who was throwing rocks at him... Would any of us thrown rocks at an East German guard tower, or a North Korean soldier??? So why is it wrong for a US Border Patrol Agen to fire back? Big mess, we need a few more troops home to help with our own borders. Protect and Serve.

Funny, I just got notification that you had left this message, and I notice that it was written 21 days ago, I have no idea why I wasn't notified the minute this was posted. Thank you so much for your comments, not just because you agree, but the reason why you believe this to be true. It is really getting pathetic at the border. I am behind Govenor Brewer every step of the way, and she holds my voie next term. I hope the whole us border towns follow suit. We need to protect our borders. That is how 9-11 happened, and those who oppose Brewers bill are only the ignorant folks that complain about the taxes they have to pay for illegals, but they despise those who are NOT politically correct!! Just an opinion, I would then invite you to pay all of the illegal cost that are incurred by these illegals, put your money where your mouth is and don't complain when your taxes have to flip the bill. I have no problem with legal immagrants, just the illegal ones. But its self righteous people like you who CREATE these problems by doing nothing about it. Your doing me a favor by not putting your name on your comments, as it shows that you cannot even associate your name with your convictions. Easy to name call, and you would prefer that you infringe on my right to voice an opinion, well, that is self important, vain, arrogant, narcissistic and controlling without even a signature, who is the honest one now? Lol, no need to respond as your opinion is not that important to me anyway. My Name is Gary Halsey, and I approve this message!!! hahahhahaha :) At least I stand by my convictions, and put my name on them coward.

It's all about what is right, not cutting in line, the illegals who sneak in are disregarding the guy who has truly decided that he will jump through as many hoops as it takes to become legal. We are told to looking the other way and when we do not they wave a magic wand over there heads with distractions such as titles like undocumented, profiling or racist. This is just there way of forgoing the rules and claiming entitlement. No one is entitled and our current system keeps rewarding those who sneak in with more entitlements, that those of us who have been playing fairly could never get. I find my country being engulfed by these entitlement groups, even to the point were our counties language is surpassed by spanish. On signs, on the telephone in schools in the work place were you have to be bilingual. There is no more adapting to this countries life style for the illegals or anything else it represented like playing by the rules by waiting your turn and your rightful place to be here. We are know just suppose to give our country away to those who feel they do not have to play by the rules. OUR COUNTRY has become a place were everything is upside down, inside out and is being fitted more and more to those who sneak in and claim entitlement. Your not alone in the way you feel, it's just most of us are not brave enough to say it.
Thanks for be brave enough.

When ever I think of the attitude (the rules do not apply to me) of the people who have become the system leeches (illegals). I think of West Side Story Song Everything free in America, Life is a breeze in America, interesting how long ago that movie was made and how the illegals who come here are instructed how to navigate and feed off the system and how they are still dancing and singing to this tune.
