My Medical Healthcare Rip-Off, Is Socialized Medicine the Answer?

Is my medical healthcare working? The question really is, "Compared to what"? I have hated medical healthcare for years because they, the medical industry, has been ripping off the American people for decades. It is the only profession or entity that can bankrupt you, and still leave you owing money. After all the deductibles are met, it is the end of your healthcare insurance year, and then you get to start it all over again the next year. I'm not sure that socialized medicine is the answer or the cure, or the so-called public insurance plan that president Obama is proposing. Oh sure, it sounds great that prices will be lower, and that the "quality" of healthcare will supposedly be better if not the same as what it is today but my question is, if they cannot "fix" the present healthcare services that exist today, how do they (the government) expect to "handle" a public insurance? We can't even control these money hungry industries today, let alone the up and coming public healthcare of tomorrow. I proposed to the United States government, that they investigate the healthcare systems that we currently have, and find out WHY cost are so high. Here are some of the things they need to investigate, and I am sure that they will find the results very surprising. See below:

1. Why does it cost so much to stay in a hospital, hell, I can go to a five star hotel and pay less than what our hospitals now charge us per day.

2. Why does medication cost us so much? Once the medicine is researched, and proven, why should the American public keep on being gouged for the research cost over and over again?

3. Why are the deductibles so high?

4. Why do we have to pay for a 1500.00 deductible before the insurance will kick in, and then have to pay office deductibles, or even specialist office deductibles, or the outrageous deductibles that we have to pay for emergency care, only to have to wait all night to be seen? What is up with that?

5. Why doesn't the government look into these problems, and investigate them, and coming up with a valid fix cover these concerns mentioned above?

6. Why aren't these items mentioned above being regulated? Who is watching to make sure that the American people aren't being gouged like what happen on Wall Street with the retirement funds?

All I am saying is, who's minding the store? Why do we need yet another plan to take the place of the broken one, why not fix and repair what we do have, and bring the prices of healthcare back down to where the American people can afford healthcare for themselves and their families. We really don't need a another system that will complicate things although I applaud president Obama for at least trying to come up with a solution in regards to healthcare. He has been the only one in decades that have tried to "fix" it.

Get these criminals out of control, and put honest hard working executives that care about the people, to run these organizations. We don't need the white collared criminals that they have running our healthcare systems that are driving up the prices so fast and furious that the American people and families can no longer afford healthcare!!! This is an area where regulation is REQUIRED AND MANDATED by the people. Lets not create another monster, instead, lets fix the one we have, and rid ourselves of the white collared criminals that run them. They should all be in jail for what they are doing to the American people and money corrupts. Am I the only one who sees this??

Thanks David, when I start talking about healthcare, yes indeed, my feathers get a little ruffled, and they get ruffled if someone talks about the taxes and the IRS. But you know...its true. We need to get rid of all of these white collared folks that are ruining the American economy and money certainly corrupts. We need to clean house of these criminals before our children have to suffer for what we have created. Its the middle class that always carries the ball, and it is time that we get rid of these money grubbers. I for one will be the first to write the government to let them know how I feel, and I have done so. I can only pray that we do not leave our children in this financial mess....they deserve so much better. Thanks for commenting and your  thoughts......your friend in pen and fan....Gary

Great article. Well done.

Wooooow you get them told. I live in the UK (as you may already know) so we have social health care under the NHS and to be in all honesty it is wonderful. I would never get rid of it.

However a word of warning it is very expensive. It costs the British tax payer around £98.6 billion (165.204 billion USD) and the US has an even bigger population. Yet again it is worth ever penny.

Thanks much for your response Connor, I really appreciate it. The only problem that I have with the system you have, is that the cost are so high, and that is part of the problem. I know that to some it may be "worth" it, but I'm not so sure about the family that cannot afford the high prices of your healthcare, what of them? All governments OWE it to their citizens to keep the prices down for affordable healthcare for ALL. I am glad that the UK has a good plan, but as you so wisely pointed out, IT IS EXPENSIVE....and why is that? That would be the question from me, to my government? Its crazy. But I really appreciate your input, and glad that you DO  have a good healthplan....I am sure that is what President Obama wants for us, but at what cost? How high will our taxes be, and why? These are the questions that I have......Thanks again....always great to hear from you.

How do you mean the family that can't afford the high prices? It's free. And we don't have healthplans we just go in and get what we need.
» left by Gary W. Halsey Sr. 2 years 293 days ago.
Connor, as you so very well pointed out, it certainly is NOT free. It is very expensive to the taxpayer. You said yourself that it is very expensive and you must know that you DO pay for it via your taxes. What about the families that cannot afford the high taxes? That are un-employed, or are disabled? Oh yes indeed, the money for your "free" healthcare has to come from somewhere, it comes from the taxes YOU pay. Right? That is what I meant....sorry for the confusion. And I really appreciate your input Connor...thanks again.

Gary, an excellent article and what you summerize at the end we all hope for. Yet and that is a very significant yet, until we the people and yes you Connor, off shore, take back what was ours, notice I say was ours, this type of lack of leadership and bias toward people with money will persist. The sad reality is nothing they do is for the little guy and yet a great majority of the average and poor flock to this president as if he did something for them? It is was past comprehension into the realm of something else driving the car. [You know my position on that]. To say we the peopl are at their mercy is an understatement, yet gary, we must look at who responds. As Connor noted with my "test' in 2007 over 1600 read my article concerning sex, of cours esomething I'm well versed to speak about, yet few to none ever red about reality, truth, fact, why? The answer, they are part of the problem. Good job my friend. As I follow I wonder how many reads you will get? Best wishes, Robert

Howdy Robert, always a pleasure to hear from a man that I know and respect. We do share the same view in most things that are about government, wealth, and the little guy. We both know who can fix these problems, and I can only pray that one day our society will wake up, and realize that only they can fix the problem. As long as the American people roll over and take this nonsense from these corporate criminals, we will suffer the wrath of the wealthy and corporate gangsters. I fear that you are right with the consensous of how many folks will read this article, I am glad that those of you who read it  did read it....but I fear you are right about the number, no one wants to hear it, they don't want to admit that they are the very ones that are indeed PART OF THE PROBLEM only because they turn their backs on "What is".
I pray right along with you that one day, folks will smell the roses, and heed what is being said, and eventuallly DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!! It is always a pleasure my friend, and we'll see how many people read about "WHAT IS"....sincerely your friend and fan.....Gary

Great article, Gary.

Hospitals are already so mired in politics I shudder to think how it will be under government control. After all, these are the people who pay folks to NOT work!

Ken my friend, how are you? I am glad you read my article about what I think about the healthcare we have....and you are soooooo right about government control although Obama went on record as saying they do not want to control it, but you know how the politicians are, and the corporate criminals are...they seem to like to turn their backs on the middle class....they just want our money, and that is it. Well, okay....they want our vote and our first born son also. Its alway great to hear from you....I am still working my book....wish me luck....your pal and fan...Gary

hi gary,

no, you are definitely not the only one.

i have worked sine i was 14. when i married at 28, i stayed home with my kids and took care of them and the house, i then got divorced in dec., and have not had health insurance. for the medications i need to take, and have been taking for years, i now have to order 2 from the internet, a couple from rite-aid, and then a couple from wal-mart. i personally think that the mothers who stay at home and raise their children to go into society, shouldn't be penalized because they didn't have a "job!"

believe me, it would have been easier on me to go out to work than be home with 3 kids, and all that entails.

i hope something good evolves for us in the way of healthcare, in the very near future.

thanks for sharing,

my best to you,

sue

Hi Sue, Boy oh boy, I certainly agree with you ...... mom's are pretty much taken for granted, and should have all of the benifits afforded women in the work place. The only difference between the two, is that the mother does her job 24-7, whereas the "working women" only do theirs 8 hours a day, for the exception of the working mothers. But I totally agree with you on that.....it is always a pleasure to hear from you and I hope you are doing well...and are in good health....your fan and friend Gary

Hi Gary,

I'm thoroughly enjoying the discussions going on here regarding the health care options. I just had to leave a comment about the cost you and Connor discussed.

I went on a senior trip with my oldest son over spring break this year to Europe. One of our tour guides was French and because of my interest in this whole health care issue, I struck up a conversation with him about how their socialized medicine works in France.

Turns out, he is paying higher taxes than I am - his are about 48%... BUT, he gets completely free health care for life. Also, for his tax rate, university costs $200 Euros per year and they have public transportation to pretty much anywhere in the country at very low costs, so he doesn't need a car.

That got me to begin adding up all my expenses in my head with insurance premiums for health and auto, the cost for my three kids to go to college and he and I are pretty much at a break even point. There is virtually no difference in my cost of living and his. I'm not saying I want to live in France, I'm just saying that I think we're being fed a bunch of horror stories purposely by groups that are funded by the health insurance industry who stand to lose a LOT of money on this. Then again, they have a LOT to lose. Have you seen the statistics that health insurance company profits are up 400% just since 2002??
» left by Gary W. Halsey Sr. 2 years 289 days ago.
Howdy Jean, and yes, I have seen those statistics that you are talking about, and it is mind boggling to say the least. In the end, I feel that we will probably end up paying higher taxes anyway, as they are already raising them here in Arizona, of couse we have a 4 billion dollar deficit here....small wonder. I am all for a different healthcare system, as long as they will cover everything, and of course the quality of treatment would have to be way up there in quality, and speed. Not all socialized medicines are bad, and of course, I think you hit the nail right on the head when you say that the folks that stand to loose allot of money are probably the ones opposing this...I have no doubt. I think you are right about that, perhaps more than we know. I am glad this grabbed your interest.....as I was saying to Connor though, his healthcare is NOT free by all means....we all pay, one way on another......Thanks for your great input, and as usual, always a pleasure to hear from you.....your friend in pen......Gary
