Your beloved friend,
your dog was to you,
was always by your side,
when you were blue.
Unconditional love,
Is what he gives,
to be your pal,
for as long as he lives.
Grieve for your friend,
it is in the cards,
Remember those days,
playing and romping in the yard?
They make you smile,
when you feel down,
looking up at you,
with those big eyes of brown.
In a better place,
is where he went,
to romp in the grass,
where he was sent.
There is a heaven,
for dogs I'm sure,
and in that thought,
you'll find your cure.
To reunite your friendship,
That is a must,
one day again with your best friend,
for in you, he will trust.
God is watching him now,
I know this to be true,
So that when you go to heaven,
He'll again be with you.

Hi Gary, what a treasured gift to Val. It's great to see our poetic style--very, very good!!! Blessings to you my dear friend in pen! TeresaThank you so much Teresa, I really appreciate it.....I kind of just "winged" it on that one, but it seemed to roll right off of my fingers...I did change a few things from the original, but it's all pretty much the same....Thanks again for reading my stuff, and commenting, I really appreciate it.....and Yes, I will be checking out some more of your work from the past.....Your pal, and fan, ......Gary
What a sweet poem. I'm not sure men like the term sweet but women do. Enjoyed it very much. Thank you for sharing. Linda DThanks Linda, I really appreciate the support and the comments, I really love to write poetry, I dunno why, but I just do. I thought of this while I was responding to Val's article about her dog......Again, I appreciate that you took the time to read it, and I do appreciate your thoughts as well.....Your pal, and friend in pen.....Gary.
Gary,I do believe that dogs go to Heaven (or is that I just want to believe it, so badly?)We are all grateful for your warm, compassionate, caring words. A lovely tribute that I pray will help Val through these rough times.Good write!
NancyThank you Nancy for your wonderful support by reading my article for Val....I think our animals become "our children" once we reach a certain age, but I have always loved mans (and womans) best friend. The were put on this earth for a reason, I'm just glad for the time I have spent with mine.....Love your comment, and I hope you are doing well.....I will certainly check out your latest....your fan, and friend in pen.....Gary.
Nicely done, Gary. Thanks Ken, I was inspired by Vals article, and my heart went out to her, as I know how she feels....I may have to put ole Shilo down soon, and its going to tear me up to do that to my best friend......but the Vet is looking at some new medication that may ease his arthritis.....keeping my fingers crossed.....Thanks for reading and commenting....you a wonderful person Ken, and I will catch up to you my friend Your fan......Gary......
This one put tears in my eyes (maybe it was the wine, lol). Really, I've only been emotionally attached to two dogs, one when I was young (a Border Collie) and the one I have now (Shih Tzu/Yorkie). I'm sure there must be a place in Heaven for these little creatures. God made them just for us.Thanks for this great poem, Gary. Thanks David for you kind words and comments. as I said to Ken above, Vals article inspired me to write the poem, I was just doing the comment about the article, and from out of nowhere, the poem just flowed from my fingertips....I am glad that you liked it.....Your pal, and fan, ....... Gary
