Those Wonderful Winds

How glorious are those gentle winds
brushing its wonderful fingers
through your hair,
As amazing as someone's gentle touch.

Smell its fragrance, isn't it fresh?
So pure so clean feel it's presence.
Amazing how you can breath it, feel it,
but its invisible, its not there!

Yet it caresses your skin, and your body
as well as cleanses your soul,
it's like an invisible lover
that you will never know.

So human like in it's own form,
but yet it can destroy whole towns
in a single storm. Hurricanes, cyclones,
how fierce they can be, yet so gentle
the winds that come off the sea.

So gentle, yet it can move gigantic trees,
that's the only time you see the breeze,
Like a timeless lover,
constantly caressing your skin,
what a blessing, this air,
that we breath in.

Free-versing is tough, isn't it. That's why I usually stick to rhyming poems. I find them much easier. But you have done well with your first attempt. You painted a great picture, and as I was reading, I was remembering the different winds I have experienced. Where I live, the winter winds sting and sometimes feel like a cold knife going through you. I have also experienced the warm breezes of the tropics. (I prefer the tropical winds over the northern winds.)
Hope to see more free-versing from you.

Thanks David, I will try some more....I do have one called Arizona , Desert of Death, that was free versed, My very 1st however was this one....It is hard, only in the fact that as you know, free versing is like telling a short story....the image is what is important, to let folks "see" what you "See", It is hard but fun to do....Thanks for reading it.....Your friend in pen,and fan........Gary.

Gary,

This one is great!  I mean that  --  and I say that not as one reading and rating for SearchWarp -- not as one who is not that much into poetry (although I often pen a Christmas poem for family -- not as one who feels her own insecurity about the form -- but as one who can truly see 'art' in this one.

Wow!  You took my breath away.  Maybe you should try more 'free versions.'

Thank you and think of some more while tending to those veggies,

Nancy
