All Season Karaoke and D.J.

This Sunday, I have the honor of being a DJ and KJ at the celebration of a couples  60th Wedding Anniversary. How unique is this. What a honor for me. Think about it, 60 years of love and devotion between two wonderful senior citizens. I cannot wait to do this gig for them. A friend of mine (who is a Realtor) called me and told me she has been trying to get a hold of me for a month or so, but I had changed my cell phone service, along with the number. She finally sent her daughter over to knock on my door, and say her mom wanted me to do the DJ'ing for her parents 60th wedding anniversary. Well, I wasn't at home at the time, and my wife called me on the cell phone, and asked me if I would do it, and I was delighted.

I called Karen that very same evening when I went home, and she was ecstatic that I was going to do it. I asked her what kind of music they would like to have at the event, and she told me, "Well, how about some of the "Big Bands" type of music". I told her I would get to work on it right away, and would burn some special music just for them, and that I would like to write a tribute to them and their lives together. So, that is what I am working on at the moment, that is way I haven't written any articles for the last couple of days...that I apologize for. Anyway, I was trying to think of some of the songs that I could look up and burn, and I found some great songs that I am praying that they will absolutely love, and at the end of the celebration, I will give them the music as a gift to honor their 60th Anniversary.

Here are some of the songs and bands that I found for them, if you can think of others that would be appropriate for folks in their 80's, write and let me know, so far I have:

1. "The Very Thought Of You"....(the movie Forever Young) Etta James

2. Songs from The Tommy Dorsey Band "Tea For Two", "I'm Getting Sentimental Over You", "On The Sunny Side of The Street", "Cheek To Cheek".

3. Andrews Sisters, "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy", "Mr. Sandman", "I Can Dream Can't I", "Lullaby Of Broadway", "Fox Trot" (With Danny Kaye), "Swinging On A Star" (with Bing Crosby).

4. Glenn Miller: "In The Mood", "Chattanooga Choo Choo",(with the Andrews Sisters), "Kings Of Trombone" (with Tommy Dorsey),"Little Brown Jug", "Over There" (with Army Air Force Band), "String Of Pearls", "Sentimental Journey".

5. Peggy Lee: "You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby"

6. Louis Armstrong: "Jeepers Creepers", "Hello Dolly".

7. Mills Brothers: "Sweet Georgia Brown"

8. Frank Sinatra: "Luck Be A Lady", "Love And Marriage".

9. Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington: "Misty"

10. Doris Day: "Whatever Will Be, Will Be", "Tammy", "By The Light Of The Silvery Moon", "Love Somebody" (1948), "I Enjoy Being A Girl".

11. Dean Martin: "You're Nobody, 'Til Somebody Loves You",

So far, there are about 32 songs that they will hopefully love and recognize, If you can think of some others, let me know and I will add them. I just can't believe how long these two have been together! Can you imagine what they have done? What they have seen? My mom, God rest her soul, was 83 when she passed away, and I know I am just going to have such a big smile on my face when I see these two together, (they want to dance to the tune of "Misty"), It will remind me of my mom. Wow. I have chills! I hope all of my SearchWarp friends will wish them luck, (I will mention you all), and if you can think of any titles that would be appropriate, let me know, I will be burning some disc between now and late Saturday night, wish me luck!!!!

Linda, I love that song as well, and it really doesn't have to be a song of their period, as I have to play other songs during the celebration, and I will include that song on their special disc as well...I love doing what I do, and I can't wait until 3:00 Sunday, I am sure all will go well, I am going to interview them for a article, Stay tuned, I'm sure it will be a great interview....Thank you so much Linda for commenting on this article, I really appreciate it as I am also trying to boost my ratings upwards, as I have been mostly reading, and not too much writing, so I guess I had better kick it in gear!!!!! lol.....your fan, and friend in pen.....Gary
