I'm not to sure about how anyone else looks at this issue, but I love writing tips. For me, Everything is in the Title....what will draw ones attention to your article. Once I used the word "Sex" in the title, and I received a few, more that usual, responses. Sea Bats Are Indigenous To the Pacific. "What are Sea Bats you wonder"?.....hum.....this is pretty good. How about "President Obama To Host Reality Show"? That is a attention getter. My point is....titles are good, if they have content that someone wants to read about, "BINGO".

Humor; One has to be able to laugh at ones self. What are the common everyday things that we can ALL relate to? I read an article that Myla wrote, that was hysterically funny, about her "Being the best looking mom in the room, and everybody was looking at her, only to find out that her dress was stuck in her underwear", Now that my friends I have seen before and is to me the makings of a comedian. It's those everyday things that we can relate to that draws people to your article. I wrote one that was about those stupid retail tags you carry on your keychain, or in your wallet, it is something that we all can relate to, and I received some great responses! Realisms are plentiful here, I can name people on my fan's list, that all have this humor to them, they must to be on my list, I need a good laugh every now and then, that is a reason why they are there. There is so much talent on this site, some that I haven't even had a chance to explore, which I have pledged to myself that I will.

Fans; Most of my fans are very faithful in reading my articles, and I love them all for it, and most do comment, which takes time, and I do appreciate. I always try to comment back, because I think it is very important to let them know what I think about their comments, and how much I appreciate their reading my articles or columns, even short stories not to mention my poetry. It is all greatly appreciated, and that goes out to all my fans, and the fans I love to read. Fans can either make or break you....I do care about them so.

Education; This is another thing I found to be useful as a writing tip. I have read very interesting articles on my health, and how to sustain it, and to consult my physician when doing other things to enhance my health. There is an abundance of information floating around out there, that I love to read, and heed. If you can offer researched material to recommend and help readers in any area, it is welcomed information.

Cultures; We have great things to share about different cultures, if you can share those, it is most informative, and I for one love to read about other cultures. Ronyae wrote a wonderful article about a African American Museum she visited, and I could feel her passion in what she saw in her culture, It was great and I felt as though I was right there. And Christine's article about Oprah, I love her passion for the subject and that article really hit home with me, it goes on and on.

My friends on SearchWarp are quite a few, and I wish I could say something about everyone because they have and continue to share their wisdom with me, Robert with his political views , and Joel with his interesting articles that I love to read, David with his poetry, and Ken, oh, I could go on and on and on......

My best tip that inspires me to write, is that of passion, right from the heart. I love life and everything in it, including all of you that I love to read. I respect your comments, and hope that you will be prosperous this year, in your endevors, and in what you write.....you are all so awesome. Thanks for your friendship in pen.........Gary. This is to all my fans, and fans on my list, as well as the SearchWarp community.....

Seems I'm the first to respond to this article so I think we all know who your favorite author should be. I do wonder why, dear Gary, out of all my witty, humerous and clever pieces you should decide to use one of the most embarrasing moments to share with all the world. Yes, I understand it is to point out that we should all be able to laugh at ourselves but there are numerous other examples you could have used.

Actually I'm quite honored you mentioned me, and ahead of all the other talented writers... luck of the draw maybe? You have won the hearts of many around the SearchWarp community and I'm thankful you consider me a friend as well as a fan. Keep writing and I'll keep leaving smart ass comments for you. Oh, and I'll make sure to point out to others some of your more embarrassing moments. Take care cool granpa and excellent hubby! lol

Gary, you write right from your heart to your readers’ hearts.  That has to be success.

We all write for different reasons and I am sure success means different things to different people.  You may have noticed that even when you write an article with the best attention getting title, it doesn’t always draw a large readership.  And if you’re like me, you may not get any comments at all, but once in a while I write that one article or get that one special comment that tells me I connected one heart to another, reached out and held up someone else or shone light where no one wanted to look. This is my definition of success.  The rest are bonuses.

In my book, you’re already a great success.  I may not always leave comments on your articles, mainly because I have no opinion or can’t relate to the subject re: retail tags you carry on your keychain/wallet.  But I do read all of your articles -  ALL OF THEM!

I am honoured that you mentioned my Oprah article. I saw your HEART, in that poem you wrote for Oprah and it was passionate and beautiful. Need I say more?

Hello Christine, you are so kind to leave a great comment, that I totally agree with, If you can touch someone heart, that is the reward of writing, I know you have touched mine, many times I love your articles. Your wisdom and your stories, as well as your great advice helps make folks all over the world better people....the advice that you gave to the young 17 year old boy, that is crucial at his age....I love what your write, and I love what I read....Thanks again for taking the time out of your busy day....to leave me a great comment.....Hopeing you have a great weekend....your fan, and friend in pen.......Gary......

A very empassioned article. And as you say, a title says a lot... which leads me to the question: Shouldn't it be spelled "Gauged?" :-)

My little electronic Merriam-Webster lists both spellings as accurate, although, the spelling with the "u" has become the more popular of the two.  Good article, Gary!
