Sex, That Little Three Lettered Word. (Not "X" Rated)

Sex Sells...It has always been, and will always be, the hottest topic this world has ever known. As I am sitting here writing this article, I am listening to "Good Morning America", what are they talking about? Executives in high places paying for sex, with corporate money. They are instructing the "Call Girl" to bill for services rendered, and bill under the guise of construction cost, or material cost, secretarial services, etc. to get past the the corporate bookkeepers. They named several high level business executives that are doing this including one from NBC. Sex is a big business not to mention extremely profitable, it's been around since Adam and Eve. Nothing new...yet still the most talked about subject in the world today.

When I was growing up, it was pretty much of a taboo thing, we never talked about sex. Censorship on television, commercials, and radio have always put a "kabash" on the subject. Great empires have been built on it, relationships have been ruined because of it. After all these years in the world's existence of sex, it still a big, and profitable commodity! What is new? I know that sex generates gossip, women that are scorned, like in Tombstone when there were more than 3,000 ladies of the night doing business with the miners. By the towns law, the "Shady Ladies would always have to walk on the shady side of the street, as they were not to be seen during the daylight hours, hence the term "Shady Ladies".

Sex today is still a big seller. No matter how religious we are, and how we conduct ourselves in as Christians, it is still here. After all, without it, we simply wouldn't be here to talk about it now would we? In the last couple of decades (I'm sure there was allot more of it happening, priest just weren't caught), it has even been present in our churches. The catholics have been struggling with this problem for quite awhile now. Well, that is because what we are talking about here is people...while we run things, and are the "Masters of the Universe, we will continue to have this "problem". Its all about curiosity in our young lives, as well as lust as one grows older.

Or sex, perhaps it is just two people, that fell in love, wanted to make a family, and did. The Bible states that we were put on this earth to procreate. That said, We do that quite well. The survival of our species depends on it. Sex, my friends is not dirty. It is the most natural thing to happen between a man and a woman since they were put together. What has made sex so "dirty" is these businesses that pray upon the topic like vultures circling around a dead carcass.

Never would you see sex ads on television when I was growing up. They never talked about condoms, or feminine hygiene, or erectile dysfunction on television! I can't ever remember seeing Victoria Secrets models parading up and down a runway on television, clad in nothing but their delicate unmentionables. I mean, they may as well be bare beamed, and buck ass naked. They leave nothing to the imagination!

Victoria Secrets no longer have any secrets! Their models are so skinny, that if you turned them sideways, and made them stick out their tongues.....They'd look just like a Zipper! That is how skinny they are. The pressures that have been put on women to look like these models is tremendous. It has led to eating disorders like anorexia, and other problems which eventually can lead to death. I know that Fredrick's Of Hollywood is still the good old standby for bedroom attire, and sexy outfits! There are tons and tons of subliminal messages in advertising, and you are being seduced into buying something, and don't even know it.

I feel somewhat sorry for the modern woman of today, as she has to stay competitive with the rest of the women in the world, to be appealing to the opposite sex. What a competitive business this is. Now I'm a man, and a cowboy to boot, I was watching sex on the farm, long before I even knew what it was, and it STILL came to a shock to this old boy when I found out us humans did it too. That is how naive we were back in the old days. Probably not all, but when you come from a strict Christian family....trust me, you didn't know what it was all about.

In conclusion, I guess all I am trying to say, is that sex doesn't determine what love is, Love itself determines that. Don't try to be something your not. Modesty is not a bad thing, and this old cowboy thinks that modesty is sexy all by itself....modesty...those were the good old days. We are the only species in the world where the female is more "colorful" than the male, i.e, the Peacock has the most beautiful colors in it's tail feathers, why you say? Its because nature gave that to him to attract the female. When he fans them out, the more "eyes" on the males tail feathers, the more apt he is to get the female. Males had to sell themselves to the females, with humans, its the other way around. I seen a lady the other day at work, that was wearing so much eyeshadow, that she looked like a male peacock...just ain't natural! Now, this is somewhat of a experiment, I am betting I get several hits on this article, because it has the word sex in it...what do you think?

Gary, without confessing I can say sex has always sold well. In my younger days I have been to some of these very high, glitzy "conventions" where business was the topic but something else on the agenda. To say that we all do not fall pray to the eye is really not truth. Even those who profess to be the most pious can fall. Now morality has changed as to what is acceptable or not. Just go to any beach and it is right there. Sit in any classroom and it is right there. yes and we wonder why young teachers fall?  Sex today is acceptable and in any form. Who says it is sin anyway the question of the day. I happen to think two things. A very definitive sign of a cultural change in our nations belief system and morality and now it is just more open. Oh and by the way many do read you, they just may not feel compelled to write back, you said it all. Good work, Robert.

Thanks Robert, I do agree with what you are saying. It is allot more liberal now a days, and I was also in that category that you mention about conventions for big blue where I worked....yes indeed, you are right on...there is nothing wrong with sex at all, I think it is great, but to me, there is still a moral issue whereas the exploitation of young girls, etc. But right is right, and what you say is correct...thanks for reading, I really appreciate it....your friend in pen, Gary...

God's command after the flood was to "replenish the earth." I think we're there! . You know, I remember a time when one, nobody I know, of course, had to find a Sears catalog if you wanted to see a woman wearing only a bra, now all you have to do is go to Wal Mart! A different time to be sure, and not for the better...
Great job, Gary

Why thank you Ken, and your right, not for the better. I know that I'm a little old fashioned, but I do remember those catalogs, and yes, I would find my gal clad in her bra....wow, what a thrill!!! hahahahaha, those were the days! Simpler ones for sure. I just don't like the way they exploit women nowadays. I was brought up that this sort of thing was a very private thing between a man and woman, not to be aired nationwide. As always, I really appreciate your input, and tomorrow I will be making my rounds to read all of the people on my fan list, I try to do that once or twice a week, or whenever I get the notifications, I do like your work, and will be by  hopefully tomorrow to "check out some more of your wonderful work", Thanks for your generous support, your friend in pen, Gary. I am in the middle of a short story called "Sea Bats"....its really interesting and I hope you will read it....more of a story than an article....interesting stuff.......stay tuned!!!

I sometimes think that the work 'sex' is overused. I mean, I love to look at beautiful ladies. When I see a pretty lady in a store or walking down a street, I look, but I'm not always thinking of sex. I just love to see something that is pretty. And when I look at a pretty lady, I love to really look at the features of her face. That's where I find the beauty, not always in the body, but the face and the eyes. But again, that's not sex, that's just the beauty that God created.

Amen to your comment David, very well said, and I wholeheartedly agree, the only point that I am trying to make is that times have changed, and so have some of the things that the media does, and from the media, and porn sites and material out there that I just think women are Exploited.....I like you love to see a lovely woman also, that is why I have a beautiful wife.....but I think what you stated is a natural thing, and no dirty thoughts involved. Well said my friend, well said, your friend in pen, Gary

Gary,

This is a great write! Absolutely great! You hit on so many points that I totally agree with; especially this one: "...Or sex, perhaps it is just two people, that fell in love, wanted to make a family, and did..." That's how I feel, too. I agree with that entire paragraph.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Ronyae, I want to thank you for taking the time to write a comment on this....I really respect your gender, and I feel that so many people exploit this beautiful creature of grace "The Woman", and with child porn, and all of that other stuff on some of these sites that I have heard about, (I refuse to go there), they have no respect for the mothers of our children. It frustrates me to no end.....I really like reading your work, you  are gifted in your writes, and you stimulate the thought process. I look forward to reading more....thanks again for your wonderful comments, your fan and friend in pen......Gary....."the cowboy"

Hi Gary, great fun and informative piece of writing here. Of course what caught my attention was the word 'sex' in the title ;)

It is definitely the case that the younger generation see more, know more and worse.....do more, than we did when we were growing up, thanks to the media, the Internet and a relaxation of standards. Only time will tell what the repercussions of this will ultimately be?

Meanwhile re us women making ourselves more attractive for the opposite sex. You do know we mainly dress 'up' to compete with other women and not for the attentions of men don't you :) We also dress down in order not to be threatening or judged by other women in our circle. It is more about women v women than a desire to catch a mate. This is why many men complain that their wives apply makeup for work, to go shopping, to answer the door but don't seem to make an effort for them.

However we do make an effort for you guys when we're single...just a bit ;)

Howdy CB, You know, I have never looked at it that way, that is why I like to read your articles, because your so smart!!! I will have to look into that, because I think your right!! Now that you mention it, I notice that when I pass by a attractive woman, I do turn to look, but so does my wife!! I think your right by golly!!! You know us men, we are legends in our own minds, so we think you  do it all for us, boy was I wrong!!! hahahahahhaha, Way to go....I never looked at it that way. It does bother me about young expecting women, that are being exploited. I'm just old fashioned I reckon, but I want to think you soooooo much for shedding some light on this....(I'm beating myself up here because I should have known that)!!! hahaha....thanks for reading my stuff, I sincerely appreciate it, and love reading your work as well.....your friend in pen, and fan.......Gary

Gary, you are not alone ALL men (well maybe not all) think this is the case and it is the case, in many cases. :)

But for me, I know that other women's reaction to what I am wearing is of more importance. Do they think I am over-dressed, under-dressed, smart, tarty, fashionable, cool, old fashioned,  cheap, classy? I guess impressing guys is a tad less complicated...*cough cough*

I think the trend on models being so skinny is a thing of the past. I think I recall them even banning women that were to skinny...or was that just wishful thinking. You got a lot of stuff going on in that ol' brain of yours Gary and I'm glad you found a platform to get it all sorted out.

Glad to see you on the front page so often and I'm glad your photo has a child in it, grandson I assume? Dads are a lot more sexy than single, muscle bound pretty boys any day.

We had some amazing weather this weekend and I took the kiddos to the park. There were a lot of dads there with their kids, a lot of them  divorced (no wedding rings...I look out of habit, sue me) and it was their weekend with the kids. You could tell the ones who really cherised these moments versus the ones who considered it a chore.

Yeah, I know all this has nothing to do with your article but did i tell you I spent the whole weekend outside with the kids? my brain is fried so I'm just rambling on but I do like the picture. Have a great evening and I do enjoy reading your articles, thanks for sharing them with us.

Myla, you are so amazing....I love to read your work, how can I describe it...you write like one would express themselves verbally....does that make any since? And yes, that is my grandson Kyle, I also have Chase, Ethan who we lost at 3 years old due to a hole in his heart, and Evan....all boys, and they are not a chore at all....I love them all. I send up baloons during the week , every day with messages on them as a symbolic gesture to let him know he is loved. I am one of those weirdo men who actually loves family, and family life...not to mention being a grandpa. I also love the fact that you were in the park with your kids...how cool is that....you are a awesome mom, writer, and comedian....thanks for reading my work....your friend and fan in pen......Gary....

Hi Gary, I guess you'll do whatever it takes to get the ratings. Geeze. ha! great article, lots of fun and filled with the sad truth. God created sex to be something beautiful between husband and wife and the father of lies has fed the world a perverted form of God's beauty. But then again, that is his job. I am grateful that I have a husband who does not make me feel like I have to compete with those Victoria Secret models. I love my food thank you very much :-)

Teresa, I must say, that it worked in the case....hee..hee..hee..but since I am a God fearing man, you know I would never put anything in here that is not of good standing in my makers eyes. I agree with what you say about being between husband and wife, I agree with the father of lies comment as well. and I loved the comment about loving your food. hahahahahah, that was precious......but I also agree.....

hi gary,

i was just telling my partner the other night, during an erectile commercial, that my parents would have had a fit if they ever saw such a thing, or listened to them talk so intimitately. somethings just simply belong in the bedroom and the doctor's office, but if it sells, they will advertise it in the best way they know how to make money.
it's hard to find something on tv, or in the movies that doesn't have some sex involved.
i, personally, will keep my personal life private.
thanks for sharing, always a pleasure,
best regards,
sue

Sue, Amen to that!!! That is what I'm talking about geeze, is there anything in the way of sex that is sacred anymore? There is some things that should be kept between like you say a partner or your doctor? Good point...Thanks so much for reading my article Sue, you are a great writer yourself, and I will also keep reading, you input means so much to me....Thanks bunches...you pal in pen, (and fan), Gary
