Why Do I Have to Pick Up The Dog Poop? (Short Thought)

Okay, where does it say in the manual of life, that it is a man's duty to clean up dog poop? I have been married for 27 years, and there has always been a un-written understanding, that my jobs involved the outside, and picking up dog poop, yard work, take out trash, then wash the cars, not to mention fix and make things in the shop?

Have I missed something in the vows? For instance, "Do you take this woman, for your lawful wedded wife, to cherish, and to hold, (and pick up dog poop) , to love until death do you part"? Was it hidden, perhaps I wasn't paying attention.....??? Oh well, its been 27 years of picking up poop, doing yard work, taking out the trash, washing the cars, and making and fixing things, and you know, I still think I got the good end of the deal!!!

Don't let this article let you think I am complaining, because I'm not. My wife is the most wonderful woman in the world to me, and she has to do so much more. Clean, cook, wash dishes, scrub floors, dust, run the kids to school when they were home, take them to the doctor, be a mom, wife, and a sympathtic listener. She helped the kids with the homework, and held their hands when they were crying because they got a shot in the doctors office. She also does the grocery shopping, budgets, and pays the bills. I definately would not complain, or trade places for sure.

I guess the bottom line is, picking up dog poop could be worse, I could have been the one having the babies........God forbid!!!.......I love my life.

Sounds like you have it made gary, your wife seems to being all the work around there. Better shape up and be thankful for those disgusting dog pooping chores or women would not really need men at all. lol

You better get the wife something really, really special for Valentines Day, and make sure it doesn't have a pulse or a plug. Have a great weekend.  Congrats on the rapidly rising popularity score, you go boy!!

Hi Gary absolutely loved this read. I loved the ending where you recognized that we women have the chore of endurance when having babies. Sometimes I wish it was picking up dog poop that was a daily chore for me than that of run round after the kids I had and, now running round after theirs. If by chance I see dog poop on the pavement I will now see it in a different light and take more notice of it - in way that I have never done before. And maybe act in a different way also - and that is to clean it up.

Well thank you Kacy, Yes indeed, I would not want to trade places with my wife for anything, and I never have, nor will I ever take her for granted. I have a poem I did on here awhile back and I invite  you to read it, it is a tribute to women, it's called "The Wonder of a Woman", I think you would like that also.....this was a fun write......and I had a ball doing it.....my wife loved it!! Yes, we have little ones to chase after now too, our grandchildren, we love them so, but it is so good to be able to send them back home!! hahahahahaha. Thanks so much for stopping by to read my article, I will do the same, I would love to read your work as well.....Thanks again....your friend in pen......Gary

I really love this article. Us guys sometimes think we have it so hard, but do we really understand what our wives go through? We are the bread winners and I know that most of us really like going to work each day, even though we often complain about it, but our wives do so much that we often take for granted. Where would we be without them?
