D oesn’t it bother you when you are driving, and you look up, and see a camera staring right at you at a stoplight? Even though you know you haven't done anything wrong? You don’t break the law, you don't speed and you don't drink and drive, your just driving! Everywhere you go, you see cameras in banks, convenience stores, shopping malls, and even grocery stores, Darn, I swear that I am living in George Orwell’s book 1984. It was about “Big Brother". Ever read the book? Interesting. He more or less predicted where we where headed back in the year 1984. “Are we there yet"? As the saying goes.
The United States as a whole is still the greatest place to live. I live in Arizona, and even WE are not as paranoid as the big cities are. Most of what Arizona does is follow the examples of other states, primarily California. Why is that? Can’t we also become a “Leader"? California changes a law, we change a law, California abolishes the ability to smoke in public places, and we do the same. Think about how absurd that law is for a minute, and I'm not even a smoker! We pass a law that abolishes smoking for instance, however we step outside and breathe a heavily concentrated amount of carbon monoxide poisoning everyday, caused by us? Wow, aren’t we smart! Oh, and by the way, the automobile industry is partly to blame for "Global Warming" and that is definately second hand smoke! Don't believe in Global Warming? Read what scientists have to say in the National Geographic June 2007 issue, called "The Big Thaw". "Ice on the run, Seas on the rise".
We can kill thousands with our smog, but if we chose to kill ourselves by smoking, it’s against the “Law". Heck, why not make a law against drinking? That kills folks that do not want to be killed. Drunk drivers do it everyday. We do it everyday when we step into an automobile, and are drinking; we either kill ourselves, or someone who is an innocent bystander (which is the risk we take each time we do that)! Heck, lets abolish drinking!! Lets abolish breathing, let’s abolish everything we have done for years that threatens our health and I mean EVERYTHING! How about chemicals in our food, our drinks, my goodness I have probably contracted cancer, and don’t even know it, who do I sue? How about the bacteria in our meats and veggies, it's a conspiracy!!
Why have we become such a paranoid society? Why do we listen to these absurd “lawmakers" that make these idiotic laws. How about guns? Do guns kill people? Somehow, that is the most absurd questions I have ever heard, PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE, not the guns; it’s the stupid jerks holding them. THEY kill people. Wake up and smell the gun power Ms. Rosie O’Donnell!!
I don’t know what the solution is folks, I just write what I see, the answer lies with you, “We the people", We who vote these laws into effect. Are we really thinking about the whole picture and scheme of things when we vote? I think not. I agree that there needs to be accountability for those lawmakers who make these decisions for us, but part of the accountability lies with us, we vote them in! Top-level comments on this article: (3 total)You make a very good point here Gary. Every time I go into wallmart I feel paronoid if I should reach into my pockets for something because I know there is a camera watching every move to insure nobody steels from them. "good article"Thank you so much Mr. Tanguay. I write basically what I see, like everybody else here. But I know exactly what you mean. I certainly do appreciate your response to me, and I certainly agree!!! Again, thanks for the comment...
You think you got it bad? Britain is the most camera policed nation in the world and it has gotten to the point that the cops say all that surveillance is actually counterproductive!Thank you Anonymous for reading this article, I was going through my old stuff, and saw that I never replied to this, and for that I am sorry.....(I was a newbie, and didn't know any better). I really appreciate your comments, and your reading the article, and appreciate the support.....your friend in pen, Gary
I remember the day when I looked up at our local grocery store. There was a bird that had gotten inside and was flying around. It had landed in front of me, then flew up. It was then that I noticed all the cameras, one for every aisle and a few to spare. I had a strong case of retroactive "willies"Great piece!!It reminds me so much of the "Big Brother Book", that it's spooky Ken!!! I really don't like them, although, I assume they have caught allot of would be robbers, and kidnappings....I will give them that. But I still don't like them.....wow, camera in ever isle, darn.......I appreciate your comments and support, and I will do the same for you, as you are incredible....Your pal, and friend in pen.....Gary
